Last year at Cultivate, I shared a funny story about writing a poem for my wife.
When I sent it to her, she was thrilled. Then she came back and said, “This is too good. It can’t be you.”
She was right. I was on a flight and experimenting with ChatGPT. I wondered if it could write my wife a better poem than me — and it could.
Why is this relevant? My core background has always been studying and developing AI, not poetry. In this experiment, I wanted to see if AI could get the right sentiments down to make my wife smile.
This is the new world of work we face — one in which people can ask for assistance, or even outsource tasks that are time-consuming, tedious, or, in my case, just something I wanted help with. Like writing that poem.
Today, it’s easier than ever to get these things done with agentic AI. These advanced AI agents are fundamentally transforming industries and redefining the way enterprises operate.
Unlike traditional AI models that passively process data and execute pre-programmed instructions, agentic AI possesses the ability to take initiative, make autonomous decisions, and dynamically adapt to its environment. It acts as an independent entity capable of setting goals, strategizing, and executing plans with minimal human intervention.
The question is not going to be which work will be done by people versus agents, but how people and agentic AI will work together as dynamics continue to change.
Let’s take a look at what is possible and coming soon.

A shift toward AI-powered enterprises
Currently, we stand at an inflection point. Every function within an enterprise is undergoing automation, from finance and HR, to operations and customer service. The role of talent is shifting from repetitive, manual tasks, to taking on more strategic, creative, and high-value activities.
This transition is not about replacing people but about augmenting human capabilities through intelligent agents. Agentic AI is more than simple automation. It is about creating intelligent, proactive systems that work alongside people to improve efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making.
The implications of this shift are profound. Enterprises will soon operate with a seamless blend of human expertise and AI-driven execution, unlocking new levels of productivity and innovation.
This shift is not just an incremental improvement. It is a paradigm shift that will redefine industries, reshape business strategies, and challenge our fundamental understanding of AI’s role in society.
The question for us to solve is how this will unfold in HR: what parts of the talent process can be operationalized by AI agents and what higher-value work can remain with HR professionals?
Shaping the future of HR
Since inception, we have pioneered talent intelligence, skills-based hiring, and AI-driven talent management. Now, we are taking the next step with our platform by integrating AI-driven agents into every facet of workforce management.
Our recruiting agents will streamline the entire hiring process, including screening candidates, scheduling interviews, collecting feedback, and even negotiating offers. This isn’t just automation — these agents will think, adapt, and learn during the process, ensuring that enterprises attract and retain the best talent with minimal friction.
Similarly, our talent agents will redefine performance management, career development, and workforce planning. Imagine an AI agent that generates self-assessment reports, provides unbiased performance reviews, and suggests personalized career growth opportunities — all within seconds.
These advancements won’t just save time. These AI agents will help mitigate bias, enhance accuracy, and empower employees to focus on making more meaningful contributions.
The power of people + agents
The future of work is not about people vs. machines — it is about people and intelligent agents working together. The dynamic between talent and AI-driven agents will constantly evolve, with tasks being delegated based on urgency, complexity, and context.
Consider a simple task like scheduling a meeting. Sometimes, an executive assistant might handle it. Other times, the AI assistant might step in. And in urgent situations, the executive might do it themselves. The same logic will apply to hiring, talent management, and countless other enterprise functions.
We have always believed that talent is the most important part of any organization, and our mission has been to use AI to unlock human potential. We built our AI-native Talent Intelligence Platform to show a complete view of skills — what people can do and potentially learn — so organizations can strategically align best-fit talent to the most critical work.
What’s exciting is that we’ve already been on this journey with agentic AI for over a year with Copilots, which is executing task automation across systems beyond conversational chat. We now have more than 25 customers — from tech early adopters to industrial leaders — using Copilots and seeing the value of agentic AI. From writing job descriptions, emails, and other communication, to summarizing interview feedback, all this is happening now and having a positive impact on these customers’ recruiter workflows.
This is quickly evolving into what we’re developing next with agentic AI — more capabilities, greater assistance. What hasn’t changed is that talent is at the center of everything we do, but now we are now re-examining workflows to find the best ways for talent to collaborate with AI agents and get things done faster and better than ever before.
How we work will undoubtedly change — and we should be comfortable with that because the future is just not about agents or agent management. It’s really about how people and agents will work together. We remain committed to pushing the boundaries of AI to create a world where everyone’s potential is recognized, nurtured, and realized.
The future of work is here. And we look forward to building it with you together.
